?? Meet our Chartered Manager of the Week: Renee Raper CMgr FCMI ??
At CMI, we’re huge advocates of lifelong learning. And Renee Raper CMgr FCMI’s career is a living demonstration of why.
Working at a UK university in its corporate development team, and being a lecturer on the MBA, it was Renee’s job to create management and leadership courses for business clients. She loved the job – and soon realised that if she was selling the value of CMI accreditation, as well as university degrees, she should get formal accreditation herself.
Renee applied for CMI membership in 2014 and was fast-tracked to a fellowship. She pursued Chartered Manager status in 2015.
The Chartered process more than lived up to expectations. The practical nature of CMI’s training showed her she was already doing so much right – and that with minor tweaks she could achieve so much more.
In 2018, Renee decided to apply all her training knowledge and experience and launch her own consultancy. Thanks to CMI’s training and endorsement, she was confident she was approaching clients on a firm footing. It gave her self-belief – because she was benchmarked against the best managers.
And crucially, the accreditation helped her win work, acting as a quality standard.
Renee remains driven to acquire new knowledge and experiences. She is an internal assessor and verifier for the CMI qualifications, and recently started training to be a Chartered Manager assessor. Four years ago, Renee’s CMI journey even led to her becoming chair of the CMI Scotland board.
Renee’s story shows what can be achieved when you don’t sit back and rely on old theoretical knowledge. Instead, by staying on the road of fresh practical improvements, doors will keep opening.
