This wrapping?type of work require time accumulation and sufficient experience. It takes at least half a year of practice?to complete?it?independently. For these hand-wrapped saddles, the wrapping technology is particularly important, otherwise it will affect the appearance of the saddle. ? How do many carriers reduce the cost to serve ? Some are jacks of all trades, MASTERS of some. Here’s what a day in the office looks like. We perform a very vast amount of work on our equipment. With my brothers return the amount of work we can execute has increased exponentially. It’s not uncommon that carriers perform and have a wide variety of skill sets on their belts. When it comes to blue color work I personally drive, weld, perform repairs/maintenance, and fabricate to name a few. My brother changed some kingpins yesterday. That particular job could cost and carrier a ball park 2k at a dealer. The pins costed us ~$500 We Know because he just came from one. According to my brother he would perform the job in give or take 3-4 hours and the shop would bill 8. Which gives us an edge wherein we could save thousands in maintenance and repairs pay ourselves a decent wage. In fact We Save thousands in repairs and maintenance. It’s no surprise why most larger carriers hire in-house mechanics. The advantage we and many carriers have is we are not there yet and by performing the work we save on labor costs and don’t deal with taking them to shops. Being that repairs/maintenance and labor are amongst the larger overhead costs the ability to perform these jobs earns us a competitive advantage. Enough to not just stay afloat but to actually grow! I have a great deal of respect for truckers that are extremely resourceful and through grit and tenacity can weather any storm!!!!! We recently had this order come through and two locations worked together to get it knocked out in a rush! Over 60 eye and eye wire rope slings ranging in size from 1/2" to 1-3/8" diameter rope. ??
