Koispace Fam, As we prepare for our February 27th virtual meetup, we wanted to share an important update—this will be the final Coffee Chat gathering. When we kicked off our very first chat in February 2022, it was intended to be a short pilot—just a few sessions. But the community and conversations blossomed, leading us to continue the biweekly meetings for nearly two years! Members from around the world have come together during this time to exchange stories, knowledge, laughter, and support. While we've cherished the Chats, we also recognize opportunities to make something even better. In particular, we want to focus on two areas of improvement: ?Creating a more inclusive format accessible from anywhere, across different time zones ?Providing more meaningful opportunities for professional development Though this chapter must come to a close, our journey continues. The Koispace patient network is evolving to create more meaningful opportunities, like an exciting new service facilitating virtual introductions between patient experts and pharmaceutical/health tech companies. Of course, the group camaraderie does not end here. We invite you to stay engaged through other platforms like KoiSpace Plus and remain a vital part of this community. This is an important case study - or more pertinently it shines a light on some important principles that I will spend a little time discussing them There are those that might scoff and ask why a multinational company would engage a small #consultancy at all - let alone for the reasons we engaged as per the case study. This is a fairly superficial and crass take (forgive me for going there- discussion point below) Instead I suggest this demonstrates a position of confidence and growth mindset which is a credit to Jess Baldry and Roberto Anello. A well-oiled slick machine like AGFA HealthCare strives for continued excellence and incremental improvement. To benchmark themselves we explored my "testing" their public facing team in the same way a Penetration Tester assesses the Cybersecurity systems in a server room. We at SMR Health & Tech were the proxy NHS Trust wishing to procure services. Using our combined #procurement and #EnterpriseImaging experience we curated the landscape and needs to benchmark. It was a fascinating project in the aftermath exploring what was said vs what was heard and how to bring the 2 positions even closer together Equally the positive moments where even with an "Eagle" mindset we were impressed by the manners aspects were articulated These engagements rely on mutual trust and not looking for problems for problems sake but a meaningful yet comprehensive exploration of multiple factors. It was particularly humbling for me because it was predicated on the basis "We consider you a #KOL (Key Opinion Leader) Rizwan thus your opinions are important to us" All too often people bandy around such terms without really leaning into the value of them or having the strength of conviction to own the engagements How many of you, for example, in the consulting space have worked "behind the curtains" - providing support but the SME or Multinational are reluctant to acknowledge having outside input? I've done my fair share of these and they absolutely play an important role. Where the lines become blurred is when you're engaged to provide support but only to inform the "public face" in private We want your expertise but don't want you to have a seat at the table. Central Public sector organisations are notorious for this and for portfolio colleagues in their early years it can be particularly demoralising as that's when you're REALLY striving for validation (happy to discuss more about this offline!) I would politely suggest "Be more AGFA HealthCare " Be confident in engaging domain experts for review, reflection, innovation fresh eyes support and indeed validate yourselves by having KOLs in your #advisory boards ?? Personally I love this sort of work and engaging with colleagues who respect and trust you bring its own unique sense of purpose and joy.

It will be exiting to follow the work of Martin Jakobsson and his team at TüV SüD, with Their newly established role as the first Danish MDR Notified Body is a significant milestone for Denmark’s life-science ecosystem.. The absence of a notified body in Denmark has been a major roadblock, hindering the flourishing of our dynamic medtech scene and overall value creation. Start-ups and small to medium enterprises (SMEs) have felt the impact. Historically, this situation has made Denmark and the EU a less attractive market for life science, prompting companies to explore other countries and geographies. At Contura International A/S , we’ve witnessed this firsthand. Life science contributes to over 20% of Danish exports, but the rigide 2017 MDR (Medical Device Regulation) and IVDR (In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation) regulations in the EU have adversely affected growth rates and the number of patents filed according to Medicoindustrien. Calling for a more flexible and pragmatic approach to fortify our ecosystem With TüV SüD’s expertise and commitment, we’re optimistic that this new Notified Body will pave the way for innovative medical devices to swiftly enter the European market. Yesterday, Conturas — Ieva, Lotte, Carina, Lis and Frederik — joined the celebration and reception hosted in collaboration with Medicoindustrien. The event featured interesting speeches from Martin Jakobsson, Michael Dithmer as a representative of the Erhvervsministeriet (Ministry of industry, Business and financial affairs), Peter Huntley, Lina Gandl?se Hansen as a representative Udenrigsministeriet (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Royth v. Hahn. By establishing an MDR Notified Body in Denmark, the Medico industry is creating fertile ground for innovation within the life science sector. We anticipate that this move will not only address current bureaucracy challenges but also attract new funding to Denmark and the broader EU. We’re excited to follow TüV SüD Danmark on their journey.
