The Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG) guideline has been published, which supports manufacturers and notified bodies in the clinical evaluation of orphan medical devices and which identifies criteria that the device must comply with to be qualified as an "orphan device". July 28 is the World Hepatitis Day! #HepatitisC is an infection caused by a virus that attacks the liver and leads to inflammation. It is spread by contact with contaminated blood for example from unsafe injection practices, from sharing needles or from unsterile tattoo equipment. Most people have no symptoms. However, if left untreated it can lead to liver cirrhosis, lymphoma or liver cancer. There’s a critical window between 2024 and 2026 to get back on track and achieve hepatitis elimination targets by 2030. With increased testing, access to treatment, and partnerships, we can reach our goal.
