The nidus can present as either a compact glomerular structure or a diffuse proliferative form with interspersed brain parenchyma. On imaging, the nidus exhibits a convoluted, tortuous appearance, commonly described as a “bag of worms,” with early enhancement of arterial vessels and venous drainage. #neurosurgery

Q:Superior sagittal sinus (SSS) can be sacrificed? A: in some cases, Yes. In this case with parasagittal meninigoma, enough venous collaterals had developed after 10-year observation and the mid-third part of SSS was completely occluded. Then, en-bloc resection of this tumor was performed. The patient has been neurological free until now. In principle, every effort to preserve the veins/venous sinuses is the best way to avoid unsure risk of venous sacrifice. The functional venous anatomy with an emphasis on collaterals should be comtemplated on the indivisual basis. #neurosurgery #meningioma #SSS #venousanatomy
