Fresh- and saltwater fish can be safely preserved by pressure canning, but the processing time is much longer than the standard processing time for meat. Freshwater fish like catfish, northern pike, salmon, smelt and trout are perfect candidates for canning; whereas panfish like perch, bass and walleye are better suited for freezing or eating fresh. Tuna requires more attention when canning, and shrimp can easily be preserved using brine. Yield Prep Tip: You need roughly one (1) pound of fish to fill one (1) wide-mouthed pint jar. Click here for the instructions on how to pressure can fish! Be sure to share this with your fishermen in your life so they can preserve their fresh catch any time of the year. https://lnkd.in/gUnK77P9 #pressurecanningd #fish #canning #instructions #howto #fishing #freshfish #recipe #thecanningdiva

As a result, the USDA security protocol was implemented, leading to a temporary halt in avocado production and transportation. While many suppliers have fruit en route that was shipped before the suspension, there is no harvest until an agreement is reached. Please plan accordingly as we expect the next 1-2 weeks to be extremely volatile with quality and supply. #getfreshproduce #freshthinking #chef

Hotdogs can be used as bait to catch fish, particularly for species like catfish, carp, and bluegill. The strong scent and flavor of hotdogs can attract these fish, making them a viable option for bait. Catfish are known for being attracted to strong-smelling baits. Hotdogs can be cut into small chunks or used whole on a hook. Carp are often caught using various baits, and hotdogs can work well, especially when fished near the bottom. Smaller pieces of hotdog can be effective for catching bluegill and panfish, particularly when fished under a bobber. When using hotdogs as bait, consider adding some flavoring or scent, such as garlic or cheese, to enhance their attractiveness to fish.

Regal Springs tilapia is incredibly versatile and can be prepared in a variety of ways — the options are endless! Grill it, bake it, fry it. It even works well in raw preparations like ceviche, which uses the acid in citrus fruits to “cook” the fish. The mild taste and hearty texture of tilapia make it a great substitute for other mild-tasting proteins like poultry, tofu, and other white fish. Tilapia flesh is also firmer than that of many other white fish, so it’s particularly suitable for soups, stews, and curries, as it doesn’t break up during prolonged cooking. How do you like your tilapia? #Tilapia #FishRecipes #ResponsibleAquaculture

Filipinos consumes more meat than fish. Look at all the lechon manok, ‘kanto-fried-chicken’, beef pares, and sisig places all over the Philippines. And do you know that bulk of the meat used in the country are all imported (except for the makers of roast chicken - which does not fare well in cooking when frozen prior)? Can we please make famous grill-cooking or even frying fish on every street corner? We have too many mudfish, tilapia, snake fish, small-sized bangus, other invasive fish, etc which we can all have as everyday food. All they need to spice it up a bit are the default herbs and spices in a typical pantry. There is no need for liquid seasoning, HVPs, phosphates, soy sauce, soy proteins, extenders and fillers. Anyone up for a good business challenge? https://lnkd.in/g2NzT4GJ

Found this rodent bait station under a large bag of sugar! Oy vey! Rodent baits should NEVER be used inside of a restaurant like this one! But why though? 1. Rodent baits attract rodents. Why in the world would we want to attract rodents inside where there is food? 2. If a rodent eats a bait it doesnt die till several days later. All the while its getting into the other food sources and contaminating food safe surfaces. Thats just not safe 3. Its just lazy! Instead of using baits under food storage, repairs should be made to the facility to stop rodent entry. Then a trapping should be done so rodents are stopped quickly. 4. It can introduce other pests into the restaurant. Food born pests can actually live inside of the baits and then emerge. After they can spread and contaminate food storage meant for customers. 5. It's not legal in many states! For all the reasons listed above. If you own or manage a food establishment, how sure are you that your current pest control is doing things right and not potentially putting your customers and reputation at risk? #FoodSaftey #Restaurant #FoodServiceIndustry #PestControl #PeaceOfMind #Rodents #RodentControl #DanTheBugMan #DanCanHomeServices
