Reflecting on today's event, it's imperative to critically examine the various environmental quality measurement systems that are currently available in the market. Firstly, REFERENCE STATIONS are often hailed as the gold standard due to their high accuracy and reliability. However, their significant cost and maintenance requirements can be prohibitive for widespread deployment. Secondly, NEAR REFERENCE STATIONS offer a middle ground. They provide 85 to 95% accurate data while being more affordable than full-scale reference stations. Though they still require regular calibration and maintenance to ensure data integrity in addition to constant validation against reference stations. Near reference stations are NOT low-cost sensors. Lastly, LOW-COST SENSORS are gaining popularity due to their affordability. They often lack accuracy and durability, making them less suitable for critical decision and policy-making processes. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of these tools is paramount for industry professionals and academics alike.
