Leadership and the Power of Inclusion: A Counter Perspective on Nike Latest Ad Nike’s latest advert, "Am I a Bad Person?", boldly confronts the topic of selfishness, sparking heated discussions. The ad’s brilliance lies in its ability to provoke thought and evoke strong emotions, demonstrating Nike’s unwavering commitment to standing for something meaningful. However, while controversy can be powerful, true leadership demands balancing boldness with #empathy. Nike’s message could have gone beyond just creating a divide by highlighting how selfishness, when combined with empathy, can foster personal growth and inclusivity. In today’s world, where divisiveness often prevails, promoting a nuanced understanding of ambition and compassion is crucial. ? Effective leadership and branding don't necessarily mean alienating a large audience to connect with a select few. Instead, fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued can build a more robust, loyal following. ? Brands should strive to stand for principles that unite rather than divide. By integrating empathy into ambition, Nike could have reinforced that being a "winner" also means uplifting others. ? In #assetmanagement and #wealthmanagement, a similar controversial approach would likely fail. These industries rely heavily on trust, credibility, and long-term relationships. Alienating a significant portion of clients would undermine the very foundation of these businesses. State Street Global Advisors for instance, demonstrates how to win without being a "bad person." Our focus on stewardship, transparency, and client-centric strategies has led to sustained success and trust within the industry. ? I believe in winning through empathy. Success is not just about achieving personal goals but also about supporting and uplifting others along the way. This approach builds a more sustainable and inclusive path to success. Congrats to Nike for the bold approach, but I am about winning embracing both ambition and empathy, promoting a more inclusive and connected community. #Leadership #Empathy #InclusiveBranding #Nike #D2R [Watch the ad here](https://lnkd.in/dCv2GBcX)

A lot changed when I came #backtowork from #maternityleave, and so did Asian & Friends Community at Nike EMEA. We are a Network now… stronger, bigger and more impactful. As I take on the role to lead Growth and Insights Pillar for #Asians Network at Nike EMEA, here is what I shared with my Co-chairs as to why I can be the one for this 2 years being a part of this community I have closely seen it transform from a small group to now a close to 500 member family. But we have a long way to go towards to journey of being unabashedly #inclusive, extremely welcoming and amazingly #safespace for our members. And this is how I will Support our core team drive initiatives to achieve the same. I recently read Simon Sinek Start with why, would like to use his #GoldenCircle Philosophy in determining our plan for the fiscal year WHY this role – Aligning with our core purpose as a team. Driving a #culture of belonging by ensuring #representation and a voice around relevant social and community issues. HOW will I act – Making informed decisions, bringing in initiatives with the sole purpose of ensuring #community members feel heard and involved WHAT will I do – * Existing Initiatives (listed all the relevant ones) * New Initiatives (suggestions of some new ones) ? This is my new #template of thinking, goal setting, projects , basically everything. I have found that this has really brought me closer to creating an impact.

The new CEO at Nike, Elliott Hill, explains how it takes maybe a bit more than "Just Do It!" to create a great company culture: ?? (1) "If We Win, I Win" Culture The team comes first! It's not about ME, it's about US. Nike has a "if we win, I win" culture. ?? (2) Relentlessly Self-Critical We are athletes, we are constantly trying to get better! At Nike, the focus is always on what we could have done better and what we should improve next. ?? (3) Compete Internally in a Fun & Productive way We like to compete and win. At Nike, we compete internally with each other, in a fun and productive way. ?? (4) Compete Externally in a Reverent way At Nike, we compete externally with our competitors, in a reverent and respectful way. This focus on collective success, continuous improvement, and competition sets the stage for Nike's future growth. Exciting times lie ahead for the company as they push to redefine what it means to win together. ?? Follow me for more insights on Organizational Culture: Ehsan Etezad

The lesson every ?????????? should learn from Nike's outgoing CEO is simple: You simply cannot ignore what made your ?????????? successful. #branding #nike #advertising #marketing #brand
JUST DO IT. That was the order when John Donahoe was hired as the CEO of Nike. And he did it. Look, it's not John Donahoe's fault that Nike hired someone with a track record of short term gains via digital transformation. He did exactly what he was brought in to do, which unfortunately was not what the ?????????? needed. While he overlooked Nike’s core identity, it came at the expense of its authentic ?????????? culture, leading to a drop in market share and diminished customer loyalty. This serves as a reminder that strong leadership requires not just operational innovation but also a deep commitment to the ??????????'s heritage and connection with its audience. Nike's new CEO, Elliott Hill, is an industry veteran who is going to have to right the ship and instill the innovation, trust and leadership that comes with being a good brand steward. JUST DO IT, indeed. #Leadership #BrandIdentity #Nike #DigitalTransformation

“Wouldn’t it be cool if…” When I think of Christopher Erb, that is where my mind immediately goes. The first thing you’ll pick up about Chris is how curious he is and how that curiosity leads to passion, not just his own but that of those around him.?And when he channels that curiosity into a project that you are working on, together, the result is not just a fresh project… but a fresh passion you feel growing in yourself. I met Chris many years ago when he was working at EA SPORTS on Madden and NCAA Football (I’m so glad it’s back!) and I was working on Nike Training.?We both have passion for the intersection of sneakers and gaming.?What a perfect opportunity, but also one that had never been figured out.?As I sat in their offices and we started to brainstorm, Chris opened by asking “wouldn’t it be cool if…” That unlocked us. That grounded us on what 1) had never been done and 2) we both thought would be incredible.?Together we would challenge what happened inside and outside the game, but bigger than that Chris would challenge me to see partnerships differently. The best partners bring something out of you in a new way. Christopher, I am so grateful our paths crossed and so inspired by you on your journey.? I know many other teammates and partners feel the same way. #ThankfulThursday #WouldntItBeCool #Leadership #Careers #Partnerships

When a company invests in you year after year even though they can hire a bazillion other people…you’re bound for success eventually, because your employers believe in you and don’t want to let you go. Some companies should learn that the Pizza parties and the Mango days aren’t paying the bills. This is why many employees decide to switch jobs or eventually do their own thing. This isn’t “ass kissing” or “working for the man”…this is an example of a man who helped contribute to an MNC’s success and growth and how he was rewarded year after year for his efforts. ??
