Okay, let's real talk about a common myth. "Workers who have flexibility work less." ?? BUSTED. In a recent case study, we compared GE Appliances' flexible work arrangements with a traditional manufacturing job and found this. ? Workers with flexible schedules on average worked more hours weekly than those in roles with mandatory weekend overtime and strict schedules. ? (Oh, and here's another fact: their tenure was significantly longer too.) Check out this entire case study comparing flexible and traditional workforces in manufacturing. https://lnkd.in/d7AuCQS5

During an interview, the interviewers might ask you: "Can you work overtime?" "Can you work during holidays or weekends?" Do not answer: ? Yes! Anytime is fine ? I don't prefer to work on weekends ? No, I don't want OT! Please don't answer too bluntly. Instead, structure your response to show strategic thinking and emphasize work-life balance. (Practice this question before you go to interviews, because this is one of the FAQ!) Here’s an example to show that you are willing to work during holidays but also you value work-life balance. "I understand the importance of meeting project deadlines and supporting the team when needed. While I'm generally available to work occasional weekends and days off, I also value work-life balance. If the situation requires it and with advance notice, I'm willing to adjust my schedule to accommodate the team's needs if I don't have any prior commitments with my friends or family." Answering like this is more towards a safer answer, which you don't directly reject nor accept. Good luck for your #jobsearch

How to reduce stress, free up time, and have more impact. Learn to say no. Saying no is a powerful skill to develop because you have limited time and energy. If you manage teams, the same rule applies. Saying no requires a clear understanding of your priorities and the discipline to focus only on the most important work. 3 great reasons to say no: 1. The work you’re being asked to do isn’t as important or urgent as other things you are already working on. 2. Taking on the work would violate the boundaries of you or your team (e.g. having to work overtime). 3. Saying yes would delay more critical work. How to say "no" the right way: 1. Make it clear why you are saying no. Limited capacity is a reality everyone understands. 2. Look for ways to help. 3. Try to find someone else to delegate to. 4. If you can't do it now but could later - see if that is acceptable Don't commit to more than you or your team can handle. Time is limited. Be careful what you spend it on. ~~~ ?? What are you saying "no" to? Let me know.

I just watched a video that left me wondering: are there real-life Veronicas who would confidently stand their ground in situations like this? In my previous role as a customer service representative, I experienced the challenge of rotating shifts mornings, afternoons, and even late evenings. Balancing these shifting hours gave me firsthand insight into the complexities of managing time, energy, and focus throughout a constantly changing schedule. Here's my perspective from watching the video: Veronica works a 9 to 5 job and likes to close on time. She is asked by her boss to work overtime after she has completed her tasks for the day. She agrees but only if she’s paid for working overtime. Sounds fair, right? But let’s face it, many employees find themselves in situations like this and feel pressured to work extra hours without getting paid, fearing it might affect their job security or relationship. Here are my key takeaways: ? Set boundaries that protect your time and energy. ? Know your worth and never settle for less. ? Stand up for what’s fair, even when it’s tough. ? Be confident and clear when asking for what you deserve. So here’s the big question: Should employees be expected to be on-call 24/7?? Was Veronica wrong for insisting on an extra pay for her time?? And was her boss out of line for assigning more work? I believe Veronica did the right thing. What would you do in her shoes? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comment section!
