That's a wrap of our Q4 giving circles where we celebrated 10 YEARS of giving! Tonight, our Scottsdale members selected New Song Center for Grieving Children as their charity recipient. Throughout Arizona, thousands of children each year struggle to cope with their grief following the death of a parent, grandparent, or sibling because of illness, accident, homicide, or suicide. A death loss can turn a child’s world upside down. New Song Center for Grieving Children (a program within Hospice of the Valley) provides developmentally appropriate grief education and support designed to help these children and youth understand their grieving process and learn positive strategies for coping with their grief. #thepowerof100 #100wwc #azgivingcircles

It's Children's Grief Awareness Month, so we're bringing you weekly tips and tools to help guide your young one through their grief journey. This Children’s Grief Awareness Month let’s "Flip the Script" by valuing presence over words. Remember that sometimes, the best support we can offer a young person who is grieving doesn't come from the words we say but from simply being there. Consider these: - Sit quietly with them, letting the young person lead the way in silence or sharing. - Engage in activities they enjoy, showing you're there for support. Your presence can be the comforting gesture that words sometimes cannot match. Let's show up with our undivided attention and care. To donate, volunteer or refer a child, head to bridgessc.org. #ChildrensGriefAwareness #FlipTheScript #CGAM2024 #childrengrieve #bridgesofhope #charlestongrief #charlestongriefsupport

NOTA:BENE Today’s Story When a young family loses a mum, dad, child or sibling the impact is devastating. As someone who works with grief charities shared, one of the lasting effects can be a relentless drive to prepare for every possible future emergency. For many, this becomes a way of coping – writing down plans and trying to anticipate every eventuality in an effort to protect those they love.?? But this constant preparation can take over, adding another layer of stress to lives already shaped by grief. That’s where something like the NOTA:BENE System can make all the difference. By helping families get everything organised and in place, it offers peace of mind – so they can take a step back, knowing it’s all done, and focus on living life again.?? NOTA:BENE System - know WHAT exists, WHERE to find it and HOW to access it.?

Can you spare an hour tomorrow? https://lnkd.in/eKFcVxTD We would love you to join us in welcoming one of our favourite people back to our free fundraising support sessions. Louise Dillon from Armadillo Life and Fred Bennett's Don't Look Down Fund will be joining us to discuss something that many people express to us that they find challenging; Navigating conversations around loss - and this often creates barriers to meaningful engagement with bereaved donors. In the session, Louise will: 1. Share specific language tips and phrases to use (and avoid) when speaking with bereaved donors, ensuring your communication is both respectful and supportive. 2. Demonstrate how to open up conversations around grief and loss 3. Guide you through creating a more empathetic and supportive fundraising communication 4. Offer insights on transforming personal loss into a powerful force for support and change, sharing her own experience in establishing the "Don't Look Down" Fund. If your organisation works with bereaved donors or would like to engage more in this special form of fundraising but are not sure how to go about it sensitively, Louise brings not only practical tips and advice, but also an openness to ask questions and talk around this sensitive topic. Please join us - we hope to see you there. We're proud to announce that we've partnered with the childhood bereavement charity Winston's Wish, to offer grief and bereavement support with our Group Life and Group Income Protection products. It's estimated that around 1 in 29 school-age children and young people of 5-16 years old, have experienced the death of a parent of sibling; giving an indication of the prevalence of bereavements among younger age groups. Winston's Wish helps children, teenagers and young adults up to the age of 25 find their feet after their world has been turned upside down by grief. From 1 January 2025, a dedicated helpline becomes available to all young adult employees of #grouplife policyholders and also to dependent children of employees. In addition, our #groupincomeprotection policyholders will also be given access to this valuable service. Read more! ?? https://bit.ly/3ZMlmpV #Lifetimepartner?

It never ceases to amaze me how much people personally gain from attending these workshops with regards to understanding their own journeys of grief. Because discussing loss openly can feel uncomfortable, we often lack a clear understanding of what to expect when we face it ourselves. Today, individuals courageously shared their personal experiences with loss, connecting their emotions, behaviours, and responses to new insights they gained. Many had moments of clarity, realizing they were neither "losing their minds" nor acting "oddly" as they adapted to their grief. Instead, they recognized these were natural symptoms of their body’s physical and emotional responses to stress. Participants left the session not only feeling more confident in supporting others coping with loss but also feeling supported in their own grief journey. #grief #compassionatecommunities
So the New Year has started with a fabulous Understanding Loss and Grief workshop at @Brandwood Community Centre with 16 local assets from the #SellyOak. After the session 100% reported improvement in their level of self confidence in approaching and supporting someone who is coping loss, which means more people will remain connected with their communities when dealing with grief. A great mix of attendees with a range of personal experiences that they happily shared to richen the learnings of others. Thank you everyone for their contributions and for your lovely feedback:?? "A great session pitched at the right level" "This training has really helped me to acknowledge how much I have healed in relation to my own grief" "A really enjoyable and worthwhile session, thank you!" "I really enjoyed the session and felt it has helped me with my own grief and will enable me to support my family and residents" Lois Maguire-Cox Benita Wishart Compassionate Communities UK - Registered Charity 1167511

My previous post references this.
Childhood. It’s what makes us. We’re all about protecting childhoods from the impact of serious illness, which is why we’re showing up a little differently. We've made some changes to how we look and sound but we’re still the same charity that will stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhood possible. Until no childhood is lost to serious illness.
Childhood. It's What Makes Us.

On the first day of Baby Loss Awareness Week, I find myself reflecting on the significance of this time. It’s a week dedicated to honoring and remembering the precious lives lost and to supporting the families and individuals who have experienced such profound loss. Having personally walked this painful path, I know how crucial it is to break the silence and offer unwavering support. This is why I’m immensely grateful for charities like Tommy's. In 2019, with the help of my amazing colleagues at Lloyds Banking Group, we were able to raise over £10,000 to advance their vital work. Supporting a colleague through the loss of a baby is of utmost importance. Here are some tips on how to be there for them: Listen actively: Sometimes, simply offering a listening ear can make a world of difference. Be patient: Grief has no timeline, so give them the space and time they need. Acknowledge their loss: Let them know their loss matters and that you care. Offer practical support: Whether it’s taking on some of their tasks or just being there to help out, small gestures go a long way. Let's shine a light on this critical issue and extend our hands and hearts to those who need it. ??? #BabyLossAwarenessWeek #TommysCharity #SupportAndStrength #Remembrance #BreakingTheSilence #Thankful
