Zoom under fire for AI policy change
Zoom is facing considerable blowback for recent changes to its Terms of Service policy, in which the video conferencing giant said it reserves the right to train AI on user data — with no mention of a way to opt out. The company updated its policy in March, but it blew up online over the weekend, as people increasingly grapple with the extent to which their data is used to train AI systems. The company said it doesn't train its AI models on audio, video or text chats from the app “without customer consent,” according to a blog post from its Chief Product Officer Smita Hashim.
- Zoom, once synonymous with remote work, is now requiring its employees who live near the office to work there at least two days a week.
