A tight labour market means employers are having to offer staff perks and fertility treatments are increasingly in demand. About one in six couples in Canada experience infertility and treatments like IVF are costly, around $40,000 for the medicine and treatment for one couple says CBC News. As more people ask for it more companies are starting to cover fertility treatments, with Canada’s big banks getting the ball rolling. One expert called it “an easy box” to check for employers in this competitive environment.
