Why should you make friends at work? According to sociologist and author Tracey Brower, building relationships with your colleagues "is one of the primary reasons you'll stay with an organization." She writes in Fast Company that these connections add value to your job and can last throughout the span of your career. And, because friendships take time to develop, grow from common interests and require a foundation of trust, Brower says work is one of the best places to build them.
