TikTok recruits amid tech layoffs
Despite the cloud of uncertainty hanging over the tech industry amid the economic gloom, one company is bucking the trend. While Meta, Twitter and Amazon have announced mass layoffs in the past weeks, social media platform TikTok is set to add staff, anonymous sources tell The Information. The platform plans to increase its engineering staff in Mountain View, California, to 2,000 employees, according to the report, with former staff at Meta and Twitter reportedly already approached by the Chinese company.
- The move comes as FBI Director Chris Wray flagged national security concerns over TikTok's operation in the U.S.
