Tackle mental health stigma at work
The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is anxiety, and finding ways to deal with it. Part of this includes being able to have more open conversations about struggles with mental health. A survey of 8,000 UK adults from healthcare charity Nuffield Health found 29% of people feel comfortable disclosing to their employer if they need time off due to poor mental health. More than a third (35%) said they called in sick because of mental health but gave another reason, though this was slightly lower than the 39% who said so in last year’s survey.
