Samsung Smart Ring, your Healthcare tracker ?? Since about 2014 the personalised healthcare industry has really been picking up pace. Whether it is measuring ones heartrate or sleep, people want to know how they are doing health wise. Although data is being collected (and could be sold) its no doubt that these datasets if shared will be beneficial for health related studies. Hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Ring: Samsung?has unveiled the first images of its Galaxy?Ring?and shared some guidance around the positioning of its device amid its wider health ecosystem in briefings ahead of MWC. The?Ring?is designed to complement the wider suite of Galaxy devices by providing a further touchpoint between?Samsung?Health and a user, powering?more advanced and tailored health experiences powered by AI. A crucial question for?Samsung?is the positioning of the Galaxy?Ring?given it arguably provides competition to the company’s line of Galaxy Watches. However,?Samsung’s Hon Pak, VP and Head of Digital Health, spoke about the company’s desire to meet its users’ needs with a variety of devices; the Galaxy?Ring?helps those seeking a simpler?device for their health and wellbeing tracking. ? Unsurprisingly,?Samsung?is using AI to turn the extensive amount of health and wellness data?into more meaningful insights for end users.?This feels like a logical and important next step for the company as it tried to better serve the existing base of 64 million users of?Samsung?Health and attract more to its ecosystem. CCS Insight anticipates an expansion of the proactive health guidance?Samsung?offers to its users in areas like sleep.?However,?the company must be careful to ensure it is using this data responsibly and communicating this carefully to its customers given the sensitivity of users’ health data. ? I was able to try?several prototype versions of the Galaxy?Ring, in three different colours (gold, silver and black) and a wide range of sizes (Samsung?notes that these colours and sizes may yet change). It features an eye-catching concave design which we believe stands?out nicely from rival offerings. A few years ago, the Apple Inc. industrial design group presented an idea to executives on the company’s health team: a smart ring that would take health-tracking features from the Apple Watch and put them on your finger. Wearable devices can help the company reach new customers, boost growth and keep people even more locked into the Apple ecosystem than they already are. This may be unlikely, but I’m not gonna lie… if this actually happens and if it works well, an Apple smart ring would be incredibly cool!
