Around 3.5 years ago, I relocated to Goa.?
My physical and mental health were both at a breaking point.?
And I needed a fresh start.?
Today, most people look at my life with envy and say -- you have the dream life.?
And I agree. I live in a beautiful house with miles of forest around me. I'm five minutes from a breathtaking, non-touristy beach.?
I have 3 amazing dogs and a cat whose personality I wish I had 1/10th of. I have a community of loving, supportive friends.?
And my physical and mental health has never been better.?
But was moving to Goa the reason this happened??
Not really.?
The beach and the greenery and the open-minded people helped.?
But moving to Goa or to the Himalayas or to Ibiza is not a silver bullet.
In the last 3 years, I have very aggressively put my emotional well-being first.?
And I’ve said no to many many things in the process --? more money, a high-powered career, society’s expectations, and my own old patterns of thinking.?
And the journey hasn’t been smooth — there have been, and continue to be, many failures and derailments.?
The truth is that real, sustainable change doesn't come from the ocean or the mountains.
?
It comes from our commitment to pursue happiness --- even if it comes at a price.
