OpenAI chief scientist to depart
Ilya Sutskever, a co-founder and chief scientist of OpenAI, is leaving the company to work on an undisclosed "personally meaningful" new project. CEO Sam Altman expressed disappointment about Sutskever’s resignation, describing him in a statement as "easily one of the greatest minds of our generation.” Sutskever played a significant role in Altman’s dramatic ouster and subsequent reinstatement last year. OpenAI, which is backed by LinkedIn parent Microsoft, announced that Jakub Pachocki will fill the chief scientist position. Sutskever posted on social media that the decision to exit was his.
