No resume, no references, no problem.
?
For those looking for a casual position this Christmas, The Body Shop is shaking up the traditional methods of recruitment, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
?
There will be no background checks and the retailer isn’t interested in your education or references. Instead, applicants will be asked three questions: Can you legally work in Australia? Can you lift up to 11kg and work an eight-hour shift? Are you happy to work with customers?
?
The practice of open hiring is targeted at those who may not have had the same opportunities as others — such as single parents, young carers, the homeless and First Nation Australians — and faced barriers to employment.
?
It’s the third year The Body Shop has implemented open hiring in the US and the first in Australia, with up to 380 casual positions to be filled across the country this Christmas.
?
What do you think of the open hiring method of recruitment?

Love this. My first job was on the chip fryer at Burger King and the only training I got was “pull the basket up when the timer goes off and cover them in lots of salt” ????♀? I always looked for marketers with non banking backgrounds for the very reason you mention and some of my best hires are now super senior and super successful years down the track. Some of them didn’t even have a degree ????
