Job searching consumes a lot of time and energy, and often, the process can feel never-ending. When the exhaustion becomes overbearing, some may consider giving up altogether. But Harvard Business Review's Marlo Lyons says to shift focus from "I'm not doing enough" to "I’m doing the best I can." Lyons offers the following advice to help job seekers stay motivated:
- Ask yourself, "Why do I want a new job, and why is now the right time?"
- Address where you are currently and visualize where you want to be.
- Decide how much time to invest in the process and build a support system.
- Focus on what you can control to remain positive and boost momentum.
- Prepare for rejection by understanding not every opportunity is the right fit.
