Health care faces wellness dilemma
The wellness movement has evolved into a controversial and massively influential part of health care, with some estimates valuing the loosely defined industry at over $4 trillion. Today, hundreds of hospitals have embraced "alternative" approaches to medicine, according to The New Yorker, offering services such as aromatherapy and Reiki under the same roof as chemotherapy. That's a problem, according to some, who argue the commingling of unscientific interventions and modern medicine threatens medical integrity. Others say it's OK as long as it doesn't harm or replace medical care.
