Hanesbrands cuts Champion loose
Hanesbrands — home to well-known brands including Wonderbra and Maidenform — has agreed to sell its Champion brand to Authentic Brands Group for up to $1.5 billion. The company wants to focus more closely on the innerwear category, it says. Hanesbrands first revealed that it was considering selling Champion back in September. The apparel brands giant expects to net about $900 million from the sale, which will be used to pay down debt. The transaction comes as global dealmaking hovers near a 10-year low, thanks to high interest rates and tougher antitrust scrutiny.

Champion’s future looks intriguing with Authentic Brands Group. They might incorporate more trendy styles, but it's reassuring that the brand will keep going. I'm curious about how long-time fans will respond. This acquisition could bring a fresh direction for Champion. ??
