Gas cost creates holiday road block
Memorial Day weekend is the start of summer road trip season in the U.S., but rising gas prices are stalling travel plans this year, the Wall Street Journal reports. The average cost for a gallon of unleaded hit an all-time high of $4.60 Thursday, an increase of 51% over last year. Not surprisingly, gas demand in May is at its lowest since 2013 (excluding 2020's pandemic lockdowns). “I try my best not to drive right now,” one Ohio man told the WSJ.
- Don't expect prices to come down anytime soon: JPMorgan analysts said they could reach $6.20 a gallon by August.
