Data breaches cost T-Mobile $31.5M
T-Mobile has reached a settlement with the Federal Communications Commission, agreeing to pay $31.5 million for data breaches over the past three years. According to the FCC, a series of T-Mobile breaches starting in 2021 affected millions of consumers. T-Mobile will pay half of the total fee as a civil penalty, while the other half will be earmarked for tighter cybersecurity measures. "We will continue to send a strong message to providers ... that they need to beef up their systems or there will be consequences," said FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel.
