ChatGPT mobile app launches in US
The first mobile version of ChatGPT debuted in the U.S. on Thursday, parent company OpenAI announced. The iOS app comes roughly six months after the launch of the web-based chatbot, whose silver tongue helped it quickly amass more than 100 million users and set off an AI arms race. By putting ChatGPT in users' pockets, the mobile application gives OpenAI a head start on its rivals and helps the company fend off scammers, Axios reports. For users, the benefit of interacting with ChatGPT on mobile rather than desktop is the ability to speak instead of type — the app is equipped with a new voice recognition system called Whisper.
- The ChatGPT app is available in Apple's App Store in the U.S. OpenAI says an Android version is coming soon, as is availability in other countries.
