CEOs speak out on remote work
Six months into the pandemic-triggered shift to remote work, CEOs and executives of some major companies are weighing in on whether working from home has been worthwhile. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told The Wall Street Journal, "I don’t see any positives. Not being able to get together in person, particularly internationally, is a pure negative." Others, including BlackRock CEO Larry Fink and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett, say the adaptation has changed office space needs and will ultimately lead to less in-office staff.
- Axios reports workers prefer home-and-office flexibility, citing a Barclays analysis that shows fewer than 10% of Americans want to work remotely for the long haul.
It’s not a binary choice. Some people do their best work when they WFH, others don’t. Most of us will probably appreciate some flexibility. When you build great office spaces - where people can do focused, deep work & genuinely stay safe, they will be happy to return.
