Like so many other Agile professionals, I was directly impacted by the Capital One layoffs. Above all else about this kind of role, I enjoyed getting to make the working days of brilliant, technical people easier, more collaborative, and more productive. Capital One confirmed to Forbes on Thursday it's conducting a round of layoffs, which could reportedly affect 1,100 employees, making it the latest U.S. company to reduce its headcount, following Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs and Salesforce. Another 125,000 U.S. employees lost their jobs in major layoffs last year.

It’s unfortunate to hear about the recent layoffs of the Agile job family at Capital One. As someone who was there for 7 years and was an ADL this especially hits home. For my colleagues that were impacted, take the time you need to process and let me know if there’s anything I can do to help you in this transition. Getting hired at Capital One in Feb. 2021 was a pivotal life moment for me. I landed my dream job at my dream company and the past 2 years have been as magical as I expected. Yesterday proved to be another pivotal moment when I was informed that my role was eliminated, along with my fellow incredible agilists. At the core of who we are as agilists, pivoting is a part of our fabric as individuals and professionals. We are not haulted by change or roadblocks, but will simply step to the side and continue moving forward. Good luck to my fellow champions of change. We will be just fine on the path to great things.
