Boardrooms are getting more diverse

Getting somewhere....but not there yet. No sitting on any laurels. Black directors were 26% of all appointees, slightly lower than 2020. Hispanic and Asian or Asian American directors are still heavily underrepresented at 6% and 9%, respectively. #diversityandinclusion #leadership

Women won a record 45% of new Fortune 500 board appointments in 2021. Their presence is incredibly important for organizational success, ensuring that new perspectives surface and larger proportions of the workforce get fair representation in the leadership suite. Studies by McKinsey and others have shown that executive-level diversity improves financial performance and crisis management. ? But board appointment alone is not enough. What happens when women get to the table and find they still don’t have a voice? For the fourth year in a row, the number of women in leadership positions has increased, with 74 female CEOs employed at America's 500 highest-grossing companies by March 2022 , and it makes me so proud to see that this number tends to grow even more.. Still, most CEO positions in the world are held by?men. However, little by little, women like me have overcome obstacles in their professional journey.? ? I strongly believe that a female leadership can bring better financial results to the company and more organized project?management, better humanity care and motivation for the team. For example, CVS Health hit as the biggest in Fortune 500 history to ever be lead by a woman. Her name is @Karen Lynch, who took over the lead of the company in 2021. Under her management, CVS Pharmacy ranked as the fourth biggest public business in America.? It is really impressive what women can accomplish on a daily basis. Wheater we are studying, leading teams or finding ways to innovate in business, we can master anything. Each challenge show that women can accomplish everything they want. Women comprised 45% of all new Fortune 500 board appointments in 2021. Overall, the percentage of women on boards has slowly risen to 29%, from 19% when Heidrick & Struggles first published its report in 2015.

Progress on the Board diversity front: The latest Axios report highlights some good (not yet great progress) on diversity in the Boardroom. - A record 43% of new appointees to Fortune 500 boards were first-time directors. - Women comprised 45% of all new F500 board appointments in 2021, a new high - bringing overall appointments to 29% (yep, still less than 1 out of every 3) - 26% of new appointees were Black directors (slightly lower that 2020 but 5x 2009's numbers) - A 300% increase in CHRO appointments since 2017 (looks big, but small baseline). Boards are recognizing People topics require more attention resulting in more CHRO appointments to public company boards.
