Recently saw another post about this article, and wanted to elaborate a bit further since we both had the same "but what about the almost 75% who were glad they changed jobs?" If you're considering switching to being #opentowork but concerned about being a part of the 1/4th mentioned below - just be honest with yourself about what you want in your career vs what you already have. ?? Will making a switch level the playing field between the two, or will it make the difference more drastic? ?? Can you change what's lacking in your career at your current job if you find you enjoy/are satisfied with what you have there? ?? If your career is chugging along well but the environment leaves a lot to be desired - will you continue to grow as you become more miserable? There are a million more points to be made here, but they all boil down to having a realistic and fact based conversation with yourself about what you want vs. what you have. Pew Research Center reveals that from April 2021 to March 2022 the majority of workers switching jobs (60%) saw an increase in their real earnings over the same month the previous year. The research also revealed that half (49.5%) of workers who changed employers also changed occupations in an average month from 2019 to 2021. In this time where people are wanting more out of employers, they are looking for opportunities for career growth, healthier work-life balance, and better pay.
