Amazon vacuums up Roomba for $1.7B
Amazon says it is buying vacuum maker iRobot for $1.7 billion, its second major acquisition in a couple of weeks and its fourth-biggest buyout of all time. It will pay $61 a share for iRobot, best known for the Roomba vacuums that hit the market in 2002. The all-cash deal would give Amazon even more clout in the smart-home space, where the e-commerce giant is already a major player with its Alexa-enabled devices and brands including Ring and Blink.
- Amazon announced in July that it would buy primary-care firm One Medical for $3.9 billion, marking a major move into the healthcare industry.

Sounds like get rid off smaller competitors to monopolize the market. Amazon doesn’t spend $1.7 billion for nonsense investment!
