Amazon expands virtual health clinic
Amazon's 24/7 virtual health clinic is now available in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., the company announced Tuesday. Amazon Clinic first launched in 32 states in November, connecting users with healthcare providers who treat common issues such as migraines, acne, and sinus infections. Amazon has made several attempts to get into healthcare before, hoping to corner an extremely underserved market: Consumers with health issues that require more than a trip to the drugstore, but don't rise to the level of needing an expensive doctor visit.
- Amazon Clinic's nationwide launch was reportedly delayed by several weeks when senators raised privacy concerns about the service back in June.
- Video visits are available in every state, though only 34 can offer message-based chats, due to regulations.
