AI to deliver 3.5-day week: Dimon
Could the next generation split their time evenly between work and leisure? That’s the future envisioned by JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, who says artificial intelligence will cut the workweek down to 3.5 days by the time many of today’s kids enter the labor force. This future work-life balance will likely come at the expense of jobs now, Dimon acknowledges, but he believes technological advances will ultimately be more positive than negative. “Your children are going to live to 100 and not have cancer because of technology,” he tells Bloomberg TV.
- JPMorgan advertised some 3,500 AI-related roles this spring, with Dimon writing in a 2023 letter to shareholders that the technology is “an absolute necessity” for the nation's largest bank.
- Investor Ray Dalio has similarly predicted that AI will usher in 3-day workweeks.

Usually when Efficiencies are uncovered, it means we can get more done in our typical workweek - checking out early doesn't sound so great if I'm trying to pay my mortgage! Fewer hours usually means a cost savings to payroll. I aspire to more than a UBI.. Maybe I'm missing something!
