课程: Windows Server 2019: Storage Services

Introduction to file and storage solutions

- [Instructor] There's lot to discuss using Windows Server 2019's file and storage solutions. Storage can easily get out of control or fall into the wrong hands. We're going to discuss how to manage your storage using Windows Server 2019. We're going to start by discussing computer management versus server manager. These are two different tools than can do the same thing. We'll then talk about formatting and partitioning options. Knowing how to format your drive in the correct sequence can make sure that your drive will work the way you want it. We'll also discuss distributed file systems for redundancy, so we can copy our data from one server to another server for high availability. We'll turn on Hyper-V for virtual machine storage and show you how to add different storage to your Hyper-V virtual machines. We'll also set up an iSCSI target and initiator service. This will have the target service running on one server and the initiator running on the other, so we can use data available on one server to show up as drive letters on the initiator server. And we'll also show high availability with clustering storage. Clustering allows us to share storage on more than one server at a time. We'll talk about deduplication to save space. When we have many different files named the same things spread out amongst our server storage, we can use deduplication in order to save one of those copies and just create pointers to the other locations where those files existed. We'll talk about RAID. Windows Server 2019 comes with several different types of RAID solutions. And we'll also discuss storage replicas, and that allows us to copy our entire storage unit from one server to another server, once again, for redundancy. We have many exciting things in storage to discuss in Windows Server 2019. Let's get started with some demonstrations, so you can see how it all works.
