De-essing
- [Instructor] Okay, once you've done your basic EQ and compression, it's time to think about some things that are maybe a little bit more specialized in terms of processing. And I want to talk about a DeEsser. What DeEssers do is, they essentially act like compressors, but they only react to and treat sibilance, and sibilance is, you know, these overly hissy S's, and things like that that can just really sort of take your head off as a listener. So, let's try and find some sibilance in here. There's not much, I will say, 'cause we had good mic technique, but this is often still necessary. - Because that's when you get plosives, and that's when S's tend to start to work against you.
