课程: UX Research Methods: Card Sorting
What is card sorting?
- A card sort is exactly what it sounds like. A research participant is given a list of items and asked to sort them into categories. If you are running the card sort, you might give categories to the participant, or you might let them create their own. Card sorting is a research method used by user experienced designers, information architects, and similar professionals to understand how users view, categorize, and label content. This helps UX professionals structure information that's easy to navigate, which is one large component of creating an effective information architecture. Card sorting involves breaking down information into individual units and asking users to group them into discrete categories. Then, analyzing data across users to find patterns in wayfinding and categorization.
