- [Narrator] So let's talk about the team. I first got into this silly business back in 1984, so I have had a front row seat watching how both clients and the industry grapple with describing what we do. When I got into the game, I was a desktop publisher. That worked for a couple of years and then as many of the skilled traits in the print industry started disappearing, terms such as digital prepress, digital imaging, and so on became sub-disciplines of their own and desktop publishing vanished from the lexicon. Almost 40 years later, the term UX has sprung up, and in many respects, when people ask me what UX means, I usually answer with this. What do you want it to mean? UX has become a catchall term, just like desktop publishing. And like desktop publishing, we are experiencing the emergence of sub-disciplines to define what people do in this field.
