- [Instructor] Let's take a look at some of the different types of hazards that PPE can be designed to protect us from. Hazards can include biological hazards like viruses and bacteria. Chemical hazards which can include a range of things from pesticides to cleaning chemicals. Nuclear or radiological hazards which can include X-rays or laser lights. And then there are physical hazards like falling objects, electric shock, or fire. I'm not trying to list every type of hazard here. What I am trying to do is list some of the common hazard categories you might see listed when you're looking at PPE so you can begin to make an informed selection. It's important to understand that some PPE protects against multiple hazard types, and others protect against only one. For example, some gloves will protect against biological hazards.
