- [Instructor] Because a proxy server accepts and generates traffic, its a good idea to ensure that it can only be used by authorized Networks or Users. Without any additional configuration, our squid server accepts traffic from itself, but no other systems. Lets configure another system here to use the server as a squid proxy. Here on the Client Machine, I'll open up Firefox. From the Menu, I'll choose Preferences. I'll look for the proxy settings. And I'll set this Client to use my server as a proxy with 10.0.2.10 port 3128. Then I'll try to browse to a site. I see an error message saying that I'm not allowed to use this proxy server. We'll need to make a configuration change to allow it. Let's switch back to the server and jump into the configuration file to see how to do that. I'll write: 'nano/etc/squid/squid.com' I'll search here for a term that I know we'll be using, 'localnet'. And I can see there's some examples here on how to write an 'acl'.
