- You know, one of the things that I've noticed in today's modern workplace is how much we don't take care of ourselves in terms of taking breaks. You know, I know that there's a myth out there that some people abuse their breaks and that might be true for a very small percentage of people but the reality is most of us don't take breaks, and that doesn't help us. We need to take breaks. There's a whole neuroscience behind it actually. It's when you stop thinking about something that the prefrontal cortex of your brain can stop kind of focusing on it and it allows these synapses to connect, and that's when you have your moments of insight. Most people don't have their moments of insight sitting at their desk thinking. It's when they go for that walk or they're taking a shower or they're having a cup of tea that those moments of insight happen.
