- [Instructor] When the SQL Server installation is up and running, you'll have set up a local instance of a SQL Server on your computer that you can connect to through SSMS or Azure Data Studio. Again, I'll be using SSMS in these demos. When I open up the program, this Connect to Server window pops up and I automatically have the local instance selected. But if that didn't happen for you, just go to this dropdown, select Browse for more, expand the Database Engine option, it should be right there for you. Click OK and then Connect, and you should be good to go. To show you another way, I'll first disconnect by right clicking here. You also have the option of just typing a period in the Server name box. Hit connect, and that works the same way.
