- [Narrator] Development often delivers a comprehensive list of changes every time they release an update. These release notes usually contain detailed logs of what they have fixed, what still exists and what is in progress. As a tester, your first duty is to review these notes in detail. Your second duty is to ignore them. Over the years I have been given release notes, bug tracking updates and other communication that has been inaccurate, misleading or outright wrong. Nobody was ever trying to deceive me. Sometimes it was simply a communication issue or maybe they didn't finish their internal testing. The point is, had I trusted the notes, I would've missed important issues. Even if the notes are 100% accurate, it's the responsibility of the quality team to ensure that the changes and fixes made in the most recent version actually work and aren't the source for new problems. It's a critical step in the bug tracking process and more important, it's critical to updating open issues…
