- [Instructor] Welcome to the RHEL Basic Administration chapter. In this chapter we will cover Linux command syntax, creating files and directories, how to add contents to a file, file management commands, how to view a file, file text processing command, and file level permissions. Let's go right ahead into the very first video of Linux Command syntax. Most of the commands that are used in Linux have options and arguments. So there is a command and you'll use options with it, and many of the commands will require an argument. So for example, when you run ls -l, it will give you the contents of a directory, but you could also run ls -l with the argument. So in this case you'll see ls is the command, - l is the option, and the file is the name of the file.
