- [Instructor] In this video we will cover how to create a new file or a directory in Linux file system. There are two main commands that are used in creating files and directories, and the first one is touch which is used only to create file. And then the second one is mkdir which is a short name for make directory. So that is only used to create new directories. Alright, let's go right into our Linux machine and run these commands so we will have a good understanding how these commands work. Alright, so we are logged into our Linux system. Again, the very first thing it's a good practice so you know where you are you always do pwd and you know you are in /home/iafzal directory. Now if you want to create a new directory inside of these two directories you could run the command mkdir database. It's just the name of a directory that I am choosing.
