- I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Even though I speak in public a lot, I still feel nervous before many presentations, and I'm actually okay with that. I know that pre-performance nerves are natural. I also know that many of your favorite singers, actors, and other entertainers get an attack of jitters before their performances. Upset stomach, butterflies, knock knees, feeling flush, dry mouth; they're all natural phenomenon and really common. Self-awareness techniques like meditation and mindfulness have helped me and many others manage pre-performance anxiety. I highly recommend practicing self-awareness techniques every day to help you manage all kinds of stress. But until you develop a strong mindfulness practice, let's focus our attention on two quick tips that can help you in the here and now.
