- [Instructor] In this video, I will explain continuous probability distributions. A continuous probability distribution is represented by continuous random variables that contain any value within a specified range or interval of values. This range or interval represents an uncountable number of values. Remember your previous steel production example. The continuous probability distribution will represent the outcomes of zero through infinity of the kilograms of steel produced. For continuous probability distributions, they're represented by what is known as a probability density function. The probability density function, also known as a PDF, is a function that gives the probability that the continuous random variable occurs between a range of values. Since each individual value in the function has a probability of zero, it is necessary to look at a range of values instead to get a potential non-zero probability.
