Help employees develop work friendships
- As I've already mentioned, friendships at work matter and are a big contributor to wellbeing and burnout prevention. But it's also helpful to understand the business case for developing productive working relationships. Employees who have thriving relationships with their immediate team members report better wellbeing than those with poor relationships, 76 versus 57%. They also report higher productivity, 50% versus 36%, are less likely to change employers in the years ahead, 61% versus 39%. Unfortunately, since going remote and hybrid, there has been a negative impact on friendships in the workplace. 56% of remote employees have fewer work relationships since going remote and 50% of remote employees feel lonelier at work than before going hybrid or remote.
