Embedding versus linking a chart
- [Instructor] When you paste in an Excel chart, you get several options. Two for embedding, two for linking, and one for pasting as a picture. If you embed, the Excel spreadsheet will live inside the PowerPoint document and your data will travel along with it. Note that the entire Excel spreadsheet will be embedded, so be mindful of any sensitive or confidential information. Embedding also means that if you update the data in the original spreadsheet, that change won't be reflected in the PowerPoint version. Also, this may increase the size of your presentation. If you link your workbook, the Excel spreadsheet will live separately from the PowerPoint document, but the chart will remain linked to it. This ensures that any changes made in Excel are reflected in the presentation.
