- [Instructor] One relational database option we can connect to in Power Query is SQL Server. The database doesn't already connect the tables together. We can reduce the size of the data table by running a SQL query to create a consolidated data table using the import connection mode. Another database type is tabular model, like SQL Server Analysis Services. Unlike SQL Server, though, this database typically already connects the tables together. We can also run a query on the database but we'll use DAX instead of a SQL query to do so. Like SQL, DAX lets us write queries to perform operations like selecting columns, filtering rows, adding new columns, and aggregating or grouping our data models. While we can input DAX queries directly into Power Query I recommend testing the queries out first in an external tool or IDE like DAX Studio to make sure the queries work properly beforehand.
