- [Voiceover] Responding to Legal Complaints. It's possible you may receive angry letters or emails often in the form of cease and desist letters or what are referred to as DMCA notices. These often include the threat of a lawsuit. Here's some advice for responding. First, do some research. Learn what you can about the complaining party and their complaint. If you can, find out whether the complaining party actually files lawsuits. That is, whether they do more than send threatening letters. Second, seek advice. If you can afford it, hire an attorney, if not, try one of the inexpensive online ask an attorney services, such as those run by LegalZoom or Avvo.com. Getting a legal opinion as to your alleged wrongdoing is essential. Third, consider whether to take down the podcast temporarily, that is deleting it from your podcast feed.
