Practice self-awareness
- One of the biggest problems with overthinking is that you often don't realize you're doing it until it's too late. This is where self-awareness comes in, or the ability to pay attention to your thoughts. Monitoring your inner world not only helps you get to know yourself better, but it also keeps you from falling into unhelpful thought patterns. The thing is self-awareness can be hard, especially when work and life are demanding. It's all too easy to be on mental autopilot, just going through the motions during the day. The good news is that self-awareness can be cultivated with a little bit of effort and intention.
